A free concert sponsored by the Geneva Arts Council, taking place on the street in front of the theater. In case of inclement weather, the concert will take place inside the theater. From pop and country to rap and rock n’ roll, these goofy guys perform a wide variety of original, family-friendly songs about all the things kids love: animals, cartoons, food, science, sports and more! Each show is hilarious, inclusive and spontaneous, and each catchy tune is designed to get every audience dancing and singing along!

Spring has sprung

Spring is here and the world is getting busier but there is still a great place to go on the weekend for the whole family. The Rialto II is a single screen theater that shows only one title per weekend that are primarily PG-13 and lower so that the whole family can enjoy a night out.
With comfortable seating and accessories for people who need extra help to enjoy the movie experience, the Rialto II strives to make going to the theater accessible for the entire community. There are booster seats available for children too small to see over the seats clearly, spots for the wheel chair bound, and audio/visual devices available at the admissions desk upon request.
Best of all you can do it without breaking the bank:
Pre-K get in free, K - 8th grade and Seniors (ages 60+) is only $3, while High School and Adults are $4.
There is a wide selection of snacks including popcorn, drinks, suckers and candy bars too.
We hope to see you soon and hope you enjoy our selection of movies!

On top of great admission prices, the theater now has punch cards for movie admissions.  For each paid admission, you get a punch on your card.  Once the card is filled, use it to get into a movie for free.  These cards can not be punched when using another form of free admission (pre-k admissions for example), as you are already getting in free.
Other great options to stretch your money this year are:
  • Popcorn bucket- purchase a popcorn bucket for $20.00 at the beginning of the year and get $2.00 refills the rest of the year (a large popcorn is $3.50)
  • Snack packs:  for $4.00 you get a candy bar of your choice (suckers/ring pops not included), a small pop, and some popcorn in a handy carrying box
  • Adult combo: for $8.00 you can get 2 large pops and a large bag of popcorn

The last movie of the year...where has the time gone?

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us at we worked to reopen after covid-19! I know that the year has been short as far as movies have gone and we are supper happy to be doing more than just selling drive up popcorn.
The year has brought a new group of board members to the Fillmore County Cinema Association (Rialto II Movie Theater) as many of the long standing members have decided to step down or, at the very least, cut down on their amount of participation (me being one of the new members). As always, new members means new ideas and new duties. It has been exciting to see new ideas and learning how to become a manager.
There have been coloring contests in October and November.
The holiday season brought a $1.00 admission matinee movie with goodie bags and prize drawings.

I work at the Geneva Public Library and, as part of my job, I learn a lot about the history of Geneva and Fillmore County via the Geneva Nebraska Business History website and Fillmore County Newspaper Archive.
I have found out that the Theater has been closed twice in the past due to lack of attendance.  I am so happy that even after Covid-19 shutting down a large part of the county the better part of 2 years and so many of the movies moving to direct to streaming services, that the community support for the theater is still there.
This weekend is the last movie of the year and board members are the ones working both nights.  Please stop by and thank them for all that they are doing to help keep a movie theater in Geneva.  Your appreciation would be a great holiday gift to all of them.

A huge thank you to all that came to the matinee November 28th!  It was so good to see that many smiling faces of all ages attend the movie and have patience with the board members after the show as we were setting up for the prize drawing (especially from the very young).  I am happy to say that the drawing was a success and the goodie bags that were handed out as people were leaving we well received.

Welcome to the Rialto II Theater

Located in Geneva, Nebraska, Rialto II Theater is a community volunteer second-run theater, managed by the Fillmore County Cinema Association.
Although primarily used as a movie theater, the city owned building also shows plays, concerts, and other venues through the Geneva Arts Council, Fillmore Central Schools, and other organizations. These venues don't happen often but will be mentioned on this blog when available.  Mostly it will focus on the theater in it's capacity as a movie theater.
With this being a community volunteer theater with only one screen, normally there is one movie showed twice each weekend: Saturday and Sunday night beginning at 7:30 p.m.. On rare occurrences, such as November 28, 2021, there will be special matinee movie due to special occasion or holiday.
By using volunteers to run admissions and concessions at each show, we are able to keep prices low, currently charging admissions of $3.00 for children k-8th grade & adults 60+, $4.00 for high schoolers & adults, and anyone in preschool and under gets in free.
